The market

What is different about Denver

Denver's mix is unusual: established energy and natural resources businesses alongside a fast-growing consumer and software sector. The two produce very different engagements — one modernization-heavy, the other growth-heavy — from the same market.

Colorado has its own comprehensive privacy act with a universal opt-out mechanism requirement, which is a technical obligation rather than a policy one. Sites must honor browser-level opt-out signals, and most do not.

Consumer brands here are frequently direct-to-consumer with strong organic and community channels, which puts content and lifecycle work ahead of paid acquisition more often than in comparable markets.

What it changes

How that shapes the work

Local context is only worth writing down if it changes a decision. These are the ones it changes here.

Universal opt-out is a technical requirement

The Colorado Privacy Act requires honoring browser-level opt-out signals. That is code, not a policy paragraph, and it is one of the most commonly missed obligations we find.

Field operations need offline-first

Energy and resources work happens where connectivity is unreliable. Applications that assume a network are the wrong shape, and it is an architecture decision.

Community-led growth needs different measurement

Where demand comes from community and organic rather than paid, last-click attribution understates the channels doing the work. The measurement plan has to account for it.

Regulation

What comes up disproportionately here

Not an exhaustive list of what applies to you — the regimes that appear more often in this market than elsewhere, and that we therefore design against by default.
  • Colorado Privacy Act
  • SOC 2
  • HIPAA
  • PCI DSS
