What this actually costs

Most agencies make you book a call to find out whether you can afford them. These are real US ranges for real engagements, along with the terms behind them — so you can disqualify us in ninety seconds if the numbers are wrong for you.

In short

  • Ranges are USD, for US-based engagements.
  • You own everything on final payment.
  • Infrastructure and media spend are billed at cost, never marked up.
  • Every proposal converts a range into one fixed number.

Ranges

Six ways to work with us

Each range reflects what these engagements have actually cost, not a best case. Where you land inside one depends mostly on integration count, compliance scope and how much legacy data has to come with you.

Discovery & strategy

2–5 weeks, fixed price

$12,000 – $40,000

A paid engagement that ends with a decision, not a pitch. We learn the business, assess the current state, cost the options and recommend one — including recommending you do nothing if that is the honest answer.

  • Stakeholder interviews and process observation
  • Current-state technical or channel assessment
  • Options with cost, risk and tradeoffs
  • Sequenced roadmap with a success baseline
Right if
You know something is wrong but not what to build.
Not if
You already have a validated spec and want it built.

Website & brand

6–16 weeks, fixed price

$25,000 – $150,000

Marketing sites, storefronts, identity systems and the component libraries behind them. Priced on the number of unique templates and the depth of the content model, not on page count.

  • Positioning, information architecture and copy direction
  • Design system and production-ready components
  • CMS build with editor training
  • Performance, accessibility and SEO to a stated standard
Right if
The site is a sales asset and is currently underperforming.
Not if
You need a five-page brochure site fast and cheap.

Custom software

3–12 months, fixed or squad

$75,000 – $600,000+

Applications, portals, internal operations tools and the integration layers under them. The range is wide because a single-workflow tool and a multi-tenant platform are not the same project.

  • Architecture, data model and integration design
  • Two-week increments with working software each time
  • Automated tests and CI/CD from the first commit
  • Documentation written for the team who inherits it
Right if
The process is a competitive asset and off-the-shelf will not fit.
Not if
An existing SaaS product already does 90% of it.

AI implementation

8–20 weeks, fixed price

$40,000 – $250,000

Document processing, support automation, forecasting and retrieval systems — with the evaluation harness that tells you whether it is actually working. We rank use cases by payback and build the one that pays first.

  • Use-case ranking with a value and feasibility score
  • Labeled evaluation set and automated scoring
  • Human-in-the-loop review where reversal is expensive
  • Cost-per-transaction modeling before you commit
Right if
There is a repetitive, high-volume, judgment-light task.
Not if
You want AI in the product because investors asked.

Growth retainer

Per month, 6-month minimum

$6,000 – $35,000

SEO, paid media, content and lifecycle marketing run as one program with quarterly strategy. The minimum exists because organic and lifecycle work does not produce a readable signal in less time.

  • Channel strategy with a named owner
  • Monthly execution against a published plan
  • Attribution wired to revenue, not to sessions
  • Reporting you can read without us in the room
Right if
Acquisition is a continuous need, not a launch.
Not if
You need one campaign for one event.

Advisory

Per month, cancel anytime

$4,000 – $15,000

Senior technical or strategic judgment on a part-time basis — architecture reviews, vendor selection, roadmap pressure-testing, and a second opinion on decisions that are expensive to reverse.

  • A named principal, not a rotating bench
  • Scheduled sessions plus asynchronous access
  • Written recommendations with rationale
  • No minimum term after the first month
Right if
You have a team and need experienced perspective.
Not if
You need someone to do the work, not review it.
We would rather sell you a $20,000 discovery that ends in “don’t build this” than a $300,000 build of the wrong thing. One of those outcomes makes us a partner. The other makes us a vendor you replace.
Our position on discovery

Structure

How engagements are shaped

The commercial model should follow the nature of the work. A defined deliverable and a continuously evolving product should not be bought the same way.

Fixed-scope project

A defined deliverable, timeline and price. Best when the problem is well understood and the outcome is specific — a website, a brand identity, an audit, a first release.

Suits
Clear scope, defined end state
Commitment
4–16 weeks typical

Dedicated squad

A cross-functional team working to your roadmap at a monthly rate. Best for continuous product development where priorities evolve faster than a fixed scope can accommodate.

Suits
Ongoing product work
Commitment
3-month minimum

Growth retainer

Monthly marketing execution with quarterly strategy — SEO, paid media, content, lifecycle. Best when the work is continuous by nature and compounds over time.

Suits
Marketing and demand programs
Commitment
6-month minimum

Advisory

Senior technical or strategic judgment on a part-time basis. Best for companies that need experienced perspective on the decisions that matter without a full-time hire.

Suits
Architecture, vendor and roadmap decisions
Commitment
Monthly, cancel anytime

Terms

The commercial detail, before you ask

These are the answers procurement will want in week three. Publishing them now saves a round trip.
Payment schedule
Fixed-scope work is billed in milestones — typically 30% to start, then against defined deliverables. Retainers are billed monthly in advance. Net 15 for new clients, net 30 once a relationship is established.
Change orders
Scope changes are priced and approved in writing before work starts on them. We do not absorb scope quietly and present a surprise at the end, and we do not stop work over a small change while paperwork clears.
Intellectual property
You own everything we produce for you — source code, designs, content, prompts, models and documentation — on final payment. No license-back, no per-seat fee, no dependency on us to keep running it.
Hosting and third parties
Cloud, SaaS and media spend are billed at cost, in your own accounts wherever possible. We do not mark up infrastructure or ad spend, and we do not hold your accounts hostage.
Warranty
Defects against the agreed specification are fixed at no cost for 90 days after launch. New requirements discovered after launch are new work, and we will say clearly which one something is.
Termination
Retainers end with 30 days' notice on either side. Project work can be stopped at any milestone; you pay for work completed and receive everything produced to that point.

Included

What every engagement ships with

Not upsells. These are in the price because work without them is not finished, whatever the invoice says.

A named principal

One senior person is accountable for the engagement end to end. They were in the pitch, they are in the standups, and they are who you escalate to. We do not sell with principals and deliver with juniors.

Weekly written status

What shipped, what is next, what is blocked, and what changed about the estimate. Sent whether or not the news is good, and short enough that it actually gets read.

Working software every two weeks

Deployed to an environment you can open, not a demo on our machines. If a sprint produces nothing you can use, that is a problem we surface rather than a slide we skip.

Tests and pipelines from day one

Automated tests and continuous deployment are set up in the first week, not retrofitted at the end. Retrofitted test coverage is a line item that gets cut under pressure.

Documentation for your team

Written for someone who was not in the room — architecture decisions with rationale, runbooks for the things that break, and a handover session recorded so it survives staff turnover.

Conventional technology

We choose boring, widely-known tools unless there is a specific reason not to. The measure is whether a competent developer you hire next year can pick it up without us.

Alternatives

We are not always the right answer

Four other ways to get this done, and where each of them genuinely beats us. If one of these rows describes your situation better than ours does, take it — you will get a better outcome and we would rather you did.

Questions

On money, specifically

The questions we get asked most often once the ranges have been read.

A floor with no ceiling is designed to get you on a call before you can disqualify yourself, and it wastes both our time. The ranges here are wide because the honest answer is wide — a single-workflow internal tool and a multi-tenant platform are both 'custom software'. Every proposal we send restates the range as one fixed number.

Next step

Get a number instead of a range

Tell us the outcome you need and the constraints around it. You will get a written proposal with a fixed price, a timeline and the assumptions it depends on.

No pitch deck. A 30-minute conversation about what you are trying to achieve.
